home trips cars concept faq about us agents contact us

Are these vintage cars difficult to drive?
Not at all. Our valet-mechanic will patiently give you instruction in how to drive your car, and after 15 minutes or so, you'll be perfectly comfortable. The valet-mechanic will explain all the idiosyncrasies of your 30-, 40- or 50-year-old automobile, and make sure you are familiar with every aspect of it. All of the cars have manual transmission.

Do we drive in big cities?
Usually not. Even though your journey begins in a major city, we try to avoid your being overwhelmed by driving you to the outskirts of town where you transfer to your car and receive your driving instruction.

What about insurance? What about documentation?
All the cars are insured for civil liability, including damage in case of accident to the car or to third parties. The driver and passengers have the basic insurance coverage required by Italian law; an optional, more comprehensive insurance policy is available: please ask for details. The only documentation you need while you're driving is your passport and a driver's license valid in Italy (U.S., and U.K. drivers' licenses are valid in Italy; if your license is from another country, let us know and we'll check if you also need an International Drivers' License.)

Is this a group tour?
It is when you want it to be, it isn't when you don't. When driving, you can either follow the leader or strike out on your own and meet us for lunch or at tonight's hotel. Each evening - or at breakfast, your host will give you suggestions for today's driving, enabling you either to follow a set course or giving you the freedom to drive at your own pace stopping wherever and whenever you want.

What do I do if...?
As your own cell phone may not work in Italy, we equip each car with an Italian cell phone, pre-programmed with the numbers of your host and your valet-mechanic. They are on hand and ready to assist 24/7 if you have a question, if you get lost or if there's a mechanical problem.

How much luggage can I bring?
As much as you want. Your luggage will be transported separately and waiting for you in each hotel room as some of the cars' trunks - especially the sportier models - have limited trunk space. Be sure to have in your hand-baggage anything you'll need during the day.

Can I request a specific make and model car?
Most of our travelers leave it to us, but if there's a certain model you've always fantasized about driving, or a certain type of car you'd prefer, let us know and we'll do our best. Nobody has been disappointed yet.
